Case Summary
Dreshaun Martin and Tori Byrd were convicted of malice murder and related offenses in the death of Valentine Gant and the assault of Gant’s young son. The Georgia Supreme Court affirmed both judgments. The court held that the evidence supported the convictions and rejected the defendants’ challenges to the trial proceedings and counsel’s performance. The court distinguished each defendant’s role and found no reversible error in the instructions, evidentiary rulings, or cumulative-error claims. The murder convictions and sentences therefore remained intact in both related appeals.
