Dr. Lesley Williamsv.Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, et al
Augusta University anesthesiology resident Lesley Williams developed PTSD after a 2018 assault and sought workplace accommodations. The program restricted her clinical work and later terminated her after concerns involving patient care, exam conduct, and professionalism; she alleged sex and disability discrimination and retaliation. The Eleventh Circuit assumed without deciding that she could bring a Title IX claim as a student. It held that the male residents she cited were not valid comparators because their misconduct and disciplinary context differed, and that the record did not support an inference of discriminatory intent. It affirmed summary judgment on her remaining claims as well.
