Case Summary

In consolidated appeals, two minor girls, A.G. and G.W., alleged that they were sex trafficked at Northbrook's United Inn, while C.B. alleged trafficking at Naseeb's Hilltop Inn. All three asserted civil beneficiary claims under the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, and A.G. and G.W. also asserted Georgia negligence claims. The Eleventh Circuit held that each plaintiff had produced sufficient evidence to reach a jury, including evidence concerning the hotels' conduct, invitation, and the coercive circumstances of the trafficking; the superior-knowledge rule could not automatically bar the minors' claims. The court vacated the summary judgments and remanded all three cases for further proceedings.
