Case Summary
Otis Hill was convicted of murder, kidnapping, attempted murder, and related offenses after Christina Wellington was killed and Marshall Wellington was seriously injured during a drug-debt dispute. The Georgia Supreme Court affirmed in part and vacated in part. The court rejected Hill’s claims requiring a new trial but held that aggravated assault and aggravated battery against Marshall arose from the same conduct as attempted murder. Those convictions therefore merged into the greater offense for sentencing. The court vacated the affected convictions and sentences while leaving the murder, kidnapping, attempted-murder, and remaining judgments intact.
