Case Summary

Quentin Horton was convicted of malice murder, arson, and related offenses after Jeffrey Hagan was stabbed and Hagan’s home was burned. Horton challenged the evidence, trial rulings, and counsel’s performance. The Georgia Supreme Court affirmed. The court held that the evidence supported the convictions and that the challenged rulings did not establish reversible error. It also rejected Horton’s ineffective-assistance claims, finding no constitutionally deficient conduct in the matters raised on appeal. The court left the life sentence and related terms intact. One justice did not participate.
