Case Summary

Reginald J. Lewis sought voluntary discipline before formal charges, admitting neglect and communication failures in three personal-injury matters. In one, he did no work and failed to return the client’s file; in another, he stopped working and dismissed the case without telling the client; in the third, he missed a court appearance, then filed a renewal action a week late and failed to tell the client as the action was dismissed. These failures violated Georgia professional-conduct rules governing competence, diligence, communication, client property, and expediting litigation. The Supreme Court of Georgia accepted his petition and imposed a six-month suspension, citing his lack of prior discipline and other mitigation despite a pattern of misconduct and substantial experience. The suspension began May 3, 2022 and expires six months later without a reinstatement process. All Justices concurred.
