Case Summary
Businesses and individuals challenged preventive-care requirements adopted by the federal government after arguing that members of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force were not properly appointed. The Court held that Task Force members are inferior officers and that their appointment by the Secretary of Health and Human Services is constitutionally valid. The judgment below therefore could not stand on the Appointments Clause theory.
