Case Summary

Walter Jerome Lowe was convicted of felony murder and other offenses in connection with the shooting death of his wife, Erica Powell, as well as separate family-violence offenses. The Supreme Court of Georgia reviewed his challenges to the convictions and sentence structure. The court affirmed the challenged convictions and most of the judgment but held that the felony-murder convictions could not remain in their existing form under the governing merger rules. It vacated those convictions and remanded for resentencing. The final disposition was affirmed in part and vacated in part, with the case remanded for resentencing.
