Case Summary

Mansour Elsayed sued Losseni Bakayoko for breach of an oral agreement, and Bakayoko asserted counterclaims. After a bench trial, the trial court entered judgment for Bakayoko on one counterclaim and all of Elsayed’s claims and awarded attorney fees. The Court of Appeals of Georgia rejected Elsayed’s challenges to the interpreter, the evidentiary ruling, and the sufficiency of the evidence. It nevertheless vacated the attorney-fee award because the trial court identified neither a statutory basis nor the findings necessary to support it. The case was remanded for the trial court to explain the legal basis and make any required findings.
