Case Summary

Jeffrey Peacock was convicted of five murders and related offenses arising from the shootings of five people, the burning of a home, and the killing of three dogs. He challenged the sufficiency of the evidence, the denial of a motion to suppress evidence from his truck, counsel’s handling of statements to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent, and the felony classification of his animal-cruelty convictions. The Supreme Court of Georgia reviewed the trial record and rejected each claim. It held that the evidence supported the murder and firearm convictions, that the challenged search ruling did not require suppression, and that Peacock had not shown ineffective assistance or a sentencing error under the rule of lenity. The judgment was affirmed.
