Case Summary

Tahj Ruff was convicted of felony murder and related offenses arising from the shooting death of Lynwood Williams. He raised three claims of error concerning his convictions and sentences. The Supreme Court of Georgia affirmed the convictions but held that the sentences for felony murder and aggravated assault could not both remain in their existing form. The court vacated those sentences and remanded for resentencing under the governing merger and sentencing rules. The appellate court left the conviction judgment intact and entrusted the trial court with determining the appropriate sentence on remand. The final disposition was affirmed in part and vacated in part, with the case remanded for resentencing.
