Case Summary

Alfonzo Lewis appealed convictions for conspiring to possess, and possessing, five kilograms of cocaine with intent to distribute. He challenged the investigatory traffic stop and arrest, jury-selection rulings, and several trial decisions. The Eleventh Circuit held that the law-enforcement team’s collective knowledge and the observed traffic violation supported the stop and subsequent detention, and that suppression was unwarranted. It also rejected Lewis’s jury-selection objections and found no reversible error in the challenged evidentiary and trial-management rulings. Because none of the asserted errors individually or cumulatively undermined the convictions, the court affirmed.
