Case Summary
A bankruptcy trustee pursued a section 544(b) claim against the federal government and embedded state-law theories within that claim. The Court held that the Bankruptcy Code abrogates sovereign immunity for the federal claim but does not automatically extend that waiver to separate state-law claims nested within it. The judgment therefore required a claim-by-claim analysis.
