Case Summary
Eric Wheeler was convicted of murder, aggravated assault, burglary, and firearm offenses arising from the fatal shooting of Sonya Corbett and the nonfatal shooting of Albert Carter. The Supreme Court of Georgia affirmed the convictions but held that two aggravated-assault counts had been merged and sentenced in a manner that could not stand alongside the other sentences. The court vacated the merger and sentences on the affected counts and remanded for the trial court to determine the appropriate dispositions. The remaining judgment was affirmed.
